The Best Gift You Can Ever Give Yourself
No, it’s not chocolate or that dream holiday vacation!
There was a king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants. One of his servants owed him ten thousand bags of gold. Since he was not able to pay, the king ordered that he, his family and belongings be sold to repay the debt. The servant fell on his knees and begged, promising to pay back everything. The king took pity on him, canceled the debt and let him go.
However, when that servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred silver coins. He grabbed him and began to choke him. “Pay back what you owe me!” he demanded. His fellow servant fell to his knees and begged him, asking for more time to pay back but he refused. Instead, he had the man thrown into prison until he could pay the debt.
When the other servants saw what had happened, they were outraged and reported the matter to the king. The king called for the servant. “You wicked servant, I canceled all your debt because you begged me to. Shouldn’t you have had mercy on your fellow servant just as I had on you?
In anger his master handed him over to the jailers to be tortured, until he paid back all he owed.
Jesus Christ gives this fantastic presentation of the best gift you can ever give yourself in Matthew 18:23-35.
I am going straight to the point dear friend (8minuteword). No matter how bad you have been hurt by your father, mother, brothers, sisters, loved ones and others, it can never be compared to what Christ went through for you on the Cross of Calvary. I want you to think of the worst thing you have ever done in your life. Yes, I mean you reading this now—think about it. Do you know Christ has forgiven you and cannot remember your wrongdoings? He has erased all your past faults and blunders, and sees you as his cherished one. If he did that for you, then you have the power to do same for others. I understand it painfully hurts but this is the best gift you can ever give yourself. Why so? Because you will free yourself from anger, resentment and bitterness. No one can do it for you except you. When you live free from negative energy, you blossom into the person God created you to be, without barriers or limitations. As a result, you prosper, advance and succeed in all facets of life. Someone once said “Holding a grudge is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die.”
So from today, reach out to those who have hurt you or those you have hurt and make amends. Life is too short to live miserably. I pray for strength and grace for you to do this seemingly impossible task, and be like Christ. You will definitely see the reward.
This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother or sister from your heart. Matthew 18:35.
