Come Out, Come Out, Wherever You Are
I was going through the book of Matthew of the Bible, and stumbled on the fourteenth verse of the fifth chapter, You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. I identify with Jesus Christ’s statement because we were created with so much potential in us but utilize little or none of it. I find it so interesting because many at times we have been blessed with gifts/talents, yet they are buried deep down within us. The common excuse is that we are not quite ready or we are afraid of what people’s opinions might be. The truth is that until we release our gifts/talents in service to others, we would never live our best lives. What use is a torchlight if it is always hidden under the table? Regardless of how bright its illumination is, it will never serve its purpose for bringing light into darkness because it has been hidden. In other words, though it could have been of great value, it is in reality useless. This is what happens to us when we do not use the gifts we have been given by God. I encourage you to take a bold step today and release your gifts. Do you have a great voice? Use it, and be a blessing to others. Are you gifted at teaching? Help someone acquire knowledge. Talented in speech? Don’t be afraid of people’s faces; bless them with your words. Put your gifts/talents to use and refuse to be fearful or intimidated by what others think. Let your gifts/talents be appreciated by many, and in return guess what happens? The glory returns to One who created you. Comments such as “Oh my! She sure blessed me” or “He is so gifted, I wonder where he is from!” would be heard about you. So please, don’t hide that gift of yours, you are the light of the world.
