You Were Made For Relationships!

relationshipsI am most of the time confounded by God’s reasoning. The supremacy of his reasoning is incomprehensible. It will be a slap in the face to compare it with human reasoning. Take for example the Greatest Commandment of all time. With human reasoning, one would assume it to be some complex “great” commandment, like “Thou shalt muzzle up the ox while fulfilling all 613 laws with precision and being the best husband of all time!” I honestly have no clue as to what I just said. Nonetheless, God’s greatest commandment is so simple, even a baby can easily understand it. Simply put, it is “Love God…Love People.” I guess the saying, For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength, holds true. God made us for relationships both vertically and horizontally. Vertically, to relate in intimacy with Him and horizontally, to lovingly serve one another. As a matter of fact, in Genesis 2:18 of the Bible, God said it is not good for any person to be alone. He never created us for isolation. Any one who says that God created humankind just to relate only with God needs to check again. He created us to relate with him, and with others. God is relationship-oriented as seen in the Godhead relationship between the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Further, it was God’s custom to come down from heaven to fellowship with Adam (Genesis 3:8). I believe strongly that He wants that same intimate relationship with us today.

Take note that it is not “Love people…Love God.” It is love God first. Why? I believe once you get connected to God, in an intimate relationship with Him, He overwhelms and floods you with His love. He takes out your imperfections and makes them beautiful. Other people will be judgmental but God will never condemn you. As a result, when you relate with others from this tank of overflowing love, you do so with the love of God. You become light in a world full of darkness and peace in the midst of chaos. You were created for relationships! Love God! Love people!

…love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself. Luke 10:27
